Talking about Chinese Hospital builiding in Chinatown San Francisco Talking about Chinese Hospital builiding in Chinatown San FranciscoGeneral final paper description: Overview At the end of the semester, you will turn in a research paper on a building in Chinatown. The project is about six pages (double-spaced) with illustrations. Some of the project will be done through classroom assignments. Students will answer the same questions about the history of Chinatown, the rise of the style we associate with the community and life in the neighborhood. We will start this process next week. The second half of the project will be a history of a particular building. You will have to select a building. I have a book on the history of individual buildings in Chinatown and you will have enough material to write a strong history of your building. The second half will also have you imagine the interior of the building and you will be asked to draw a floor plan and elevation as well as describe what you think that space might have been like. You will have to make educated guesses about these interiors—but that is part of what I am hoping you will learn through doing this project. General history (first half of paper): The kinds of questions you will write will be: A paragraph or two (approximately a page/ to a page and a half) of a general history of Chinatown before the earthquake, including immigration, why people came here, the hostilities they faced from other San Franciscans. Then a paragraph or two about the history of Chinatown after the earthquake.
